Founded in 1889 in Chicago USA as a bridge design and construction company they soon turned their focus to bulk liquid storage. Providing engineering and construction of elevated and underground storage tanks for petroleum and refined products. Including the first floating-roof tank for the oil industry and the first spherical pressure vessel in 1923, the first double-wall LNG storage tank (1958) and the world's largest vacuum distillation tower in 1999, just to name a few.

Today CB&I have over 50,000 employees delivering complete services from design, engineering, construction, fabrication, maintenance and environmental services.
